A yearlong study backs the mayor’s dream of extending the No. 7 train to New Jersey.

The report, released Wednesday by infrastructure consulting firm Parsons Brinckerhoff, found that a connection between Secaucus, N.J., and the future 11th Avenue stop would be an economic boost to both states. Such an extension would have a daily ridership of 128,000 and improve commuting efficiency.

“Expanding trans-Hudson commuting capacity … is critical to maximizing the region’s growth potential,” the report said.

Three years ago, N.J. Gov. Chris Christie stopped his state’s Access to the Region’s Core project, which would have created a tunnel between the city and New Jersey. Mayor Michael Bloomberg has pushed Christie to reconsider.
