New York stars who worked with Tony Scott expressed shock and sadness Monday after the 68-year-old filmmaker apparently committed suicide by jumping off a California bridge.
There are conflicting reports as to whether the “Top Gun” director had an inoperable brain tumor. Scott left suicide notes in the Toyota Prius he left at the bridge and in his office, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office said.
Scott had produced and directed several movies and shows on location in New York, including the CBS drama “The Good Wife.” The show’s star Julianna Margulies recalled the warmth he brought to the set every day.
“I couldn’t have asked for a more wonderful producer. His kindness, intelligence and talent inspired all of us,” she said in a statement.
Queens-born actor David Krumholtz, who worked with Scott on an episode of CBS’ “Numbers,” said he had a similar experience with Scott.
“He was wild and big and crazy and uncontrollable and he gave it his all, every moment, because he believed in his crew, his cast and the show,” he tweeted yesterday.
