Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s approval rating got a boost due to his handling of the hurricane, a Quinnipiac University poll released Tuesday said.
Despite having an overall rating of 56%, his highest in two years, the mayor trailed Gov. Andrew Cuomo, President Barack Obama and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie when pollsters asked which leader handled the storm the best.
“That love fest between [Christie] and President Barack Obama seems to have moved voters especially,” Maurice Carroll, director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute said in a statement.
“While all four leaders get very high marks — it seems a hug or two never hurts.”
Nonetheless, hizzoner and other city officials earned high praise from New Yorkers for their actions before, during and after the storm.
Bloomberg’s odd-even gas rationing system, that will remain into effect until at least Friday, is a good idea, according 85% of polled voters.
About 75% of polled New Yorkers rated the MTA’s handling of the storm as either good or excellent.
