Joe Lhota’s road to City Hall just got a boost from some City Council members.

The City Council’s GOP delegation — Dan Halloran, Eric Ulrich, Vincent Ignizio and James Oddo — endorsed the former MTA chief for the Republican mayoral primary Wednesday at a news conference at City Hall.

The four councilmen said Lhota’s years of experience as a deputy mayor under Rudy Giuliani would make him a great leader for the city, who would improve things for New Yorkers.

“I have always been impressed with his intellect, his work ethic, his sincerity and his wit. I think Joe is by far the superior candidate,” Oddo said.

Bronx County GOP Chairman Jay Savino also yesterday announced his endorsement of Lhota in the Republican primary.

Lhota, who is running against several GOP candidates in the primary including Gristedes owner John Catsimatidis, said he was humbled by the support from his fellow party members and would put the Big Apple’s best interest first.

“I look forward to the opportunity where we can continue to see the city grow, create jobs and find ways to make our education system better,” he said.

One Democrat got in on the event, as Councilman Robert Jackson stopped as he passed by to hug Lhota and wish him well after the news conference finished.
