The public will be able to give their two cents about the much-delayed and controversial Willets Point project Wednesday.
The City Planning Commission will host a public hearing at 9 a.m. at its offices at 22 Reade St. on the $3-billion redevelopment plan for the land near Citi Field.
For years, the mayor and the city’s Economic Development Corporation hav. tried to transform the 23 acres into a hot spot, only to be hit with setbacks.
Last year, the EDC made a deal with two Manhattan-based developers, one of which is run by Mets owner Fred Wilpon, to create a site that includes a 200-room hotel and 30,000 square feet of retail space.
There has been a lot of opposition to the development from car shop owners and other business members who work in the area because they have been forced to relocate their stores.
Queens Borough President Helen Marshall sent the commission a letter of recommendation supporting the plan, which also must be passed by the City Council.
