The city launched a new campaign Wednesday to show Staten Island has more to offer than a free ferry ride to see the Statue of Liberty.

NYC & Company, the city’s tourism wing, will focus on the borough’s hidden gems such as Port Richmond, Randall Manor, St. George and West Brighton as part of its Neighborhood x Neighborhood program, an initiative to highlight outerborough neighborhoods.

“A lot of people just hop on the ferry, spend a few minutes there and then get back on. We want to change that and have visitors stay longer,” said Chris Heywood, a spokesman for NYC & Company.

NYC & Company suggests Denino’s Pizzeria & Tavern and Ralph’s Famous Italian Ices in Port Richmond, Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden, the St. George Theater and the Staten Island Zoo.

Staten Island is the final borough to be part of Neighborhood x Neighborhood. Other locations highlighted in the campaign, which launched in the fall, include Bushwick, the South Bronx and Jackson Heights, with more neighborhood spotlights coming.
